Highbury Earth Day - Saturday 24th September

Thrifty's "Woolly Resurrection" offering went down a treat at last week's Earth Day Festival (Highbury Fields) with 25 young and older visitors trying their hand at embellishing our stock of lovely left-over jumpers

Our sister enterprise Thrifty Couture tried the Green Fair for the first time and sold out to an appreciative audience.  Camden residents have never been so well dressed. . .


GetMoreLocal Wins UK’s Top Business Award for Sustainability
The 2011 Sustainable City Awards
 
GetMoreLocal has won top prize in the Sustainable Procurement category at the 2011 City of London’s Sustainable City Awards.  The awards are the UK’s foremost sustainability awards and recognise outstanding effort in working towards a sustainable future
 
The Sustainable Procurement category recognises and rewards organisations that have adopted comprehensive and innovative systems addressing the social, economic and environmental impacts of purchasing and supply chain decisions.  This category is open to organisations across the UK.  GetMoreLocal was also short listed in the Greening the Third Sector category
 
GetMoreLocal was one of 41 finalists to be invited to the award ceremony at the Lord Mayor’s Mansion House last Thursday selected from 220 entries UK-wide where the Rt Hon Lord Smith of Finsbury, Chairman of the Environment Agency gave the keynote speech and presented the trophies.
 
Steve Connelly, co-founder:  “We are delighted at receiving such a s prestigious award and to have our young team’s hard work recognised.  It is a huge boost to our new business and will give us valuable credibility as we look to raise profile and customers in the coming months.”
 
Co-founder Judith Hunt was equally pleased: “This is a fantastic result for us, especially as this is only our first year of operation.”
 
The Sustainable City Awards are one of ten UK feeder schemes to the European Business Awards. All business winners are considered for entry into the Europe-wide scheme, which takes place every two years.
