Many people have little idea
of the massive range of small businesses and what they have to offer, on their
own doorstep. All they need is an
incentive to discover them and then continue to shop there again and again.
This is where GetMoreLocal’s award-winning*
loyalty card scheme comes into its own, bringing you new customers then keeping
them coming back for more.
And don’t forget: money spent in the local
community stays in the local community; business owners buy their supplies
locally, employ local people, and pay local taxes. All this makes for a stronger local economy.
(*Lord Mayor’s
Sustainable City Award 2011)
GetMoreLocal rolled out to the public in
Autumn 2011 with a direct personalised mailing campaign to the doors of 60,000
Islington residents.
And every month we mail an average of 12,000 local residents. The
GetMoreLocal card is available free to residents and has therefore a very high
take-up rate with 30,000 cardholders in Islington anticipated by the end of
September 2012.
You can win a share of this
massive, new customer footfall with Standard packages from just £12.50 to £15
per week. We also offer a range of payment options and marketing support
including branding, web design and print services offered at rates that larger
companies can’t beat.
If you’d like to know more,
call us on 08000 213 946 and one of our account managers will visit you to
discuss how we can help your business gain and retain new customers.
Or just go to www.getmorelocal.co.uk to register your business and we’ll be in
touch!

Our Environmental Policy, December 2011
GetMoreLocal
is sincerely committed to building a stronger, more resilient and sustainable
community. Our commitment to
sustainability is not limited to supporting our local community, but extends to
our physical environment.
We
take our environmental responsibility very seriously and encourage those we
work with to do the same, including our suppliers and those we provide support
and services to. Our ambition is
to demonstrate ‘best practice’ in sustainable behaviour and influence to those
organisations we do business with.
As well as complying with all relevant environmental legislation, we
have appointed an office manager to increase the capacity of our green
operations and we commit to the additional policies below. We believe there is always room for
improvement and welcome your comments and suggestions on how you think we could
do even better.
Our
achievements in sustainability were recognised in 2010 when we won the
Sustainable Cities Award for Sustainable Procurement
Waste - Reduce, Reuse,
Recycle
We
take waste very seriously and believe passionately in the three Rs: Reduce,
Reuse, Recycle. We are committed
to reducing the amount of our waste that ends up in landfill.
We
already:
- Minimise our office
waste, including paper. For
example, we only print documents when it is unavoidable and only use 100%
recycled Forestry Stewardship Commission (FSC) certified paper stock and 100%
certified organic printer inks.
- Recycle any waste that is
recyclable through a third party recycling company.
- Source either second-hand
or sustainably-produced office furniture wherever possible.
- Scrutinise the
environmental policies of our suppliers.
- Utilise a plumbed-in
miniaturised filtering system providing filtered drinking water for staff,
minimising packaging waste and food miles.
- Reduce food miles and
packaging by growing our own vegetables, herbs and fruit in our office grounds
to feed our staff and supply our GetMoreLocal Food Service. In 2010 and 2011, our ‘Edible Garden’
was awarded a Silver Business in Bloom and the Sustainability Award by
Islington Council.
We
intend to:
- Continue to grow our
‘Edible Garden’, the produce from which will be used to feed our staff and
supply our GetMoreLocal Food Service.
Energy
We
are committed to reducing our carbon emissions by reducing our energy usage.
We
already:
- Purchase the most
energy-efficient equipment available where feasible.
- Train our staff to switch
off equipment not in use and use equipment efficiently.
- Have taken measures to
reduce the carbon footprint of our offices such as fixing aerators on taps,
putting in place frosted windows in order to reduce solar glare.
- Use a low-energy cooling
system in our offices which takes fresh air from outside and circulates it
throughout our offices providing our offices with filtered air which is the
same temperature as the ambient air outside.
We
intend to:
- Reduce our electricity
consumption wherever possible. We will do this by monitoring our energy usage.
- Reduce our carbon
footprint by switching to a renewable energy supplier within the next six
months.
Travel
All
our staff are committed to protecting the environment and either cycle to work
or use public transport wherever possible. We provide facilities such as showers, clothes lockers and
secure bike lock-up for those who cycle to work.
We
already:
- Encourage remote working
(either working from home or premises closer to home) wherever possible, in
order to minimise transport-related emissions.
- Host our events within a
2.5 km radius of our offices and transfer any materials to events either by
foot or by bike.
- Deliver our marketing and
catering service by bicycle.
We
intend to:
- Set up a solar-powered water
bus service on Regents Canal for residents in North Central London and the
Olympic boroughs within the next 18 months.
- Sign up to the
government’s Cycle to Work scheme, thereby making it easier for our staff to
minimise transport-related emissions.
Other
We
already:
- Launched Transition Kings
Cross which provides an example of low energy living.
- Vet our suppliers to
ensure that they meet our environmental standards and we use local, sustainable
supplier where possible.
We
intend to:
- Collaborate with other
Transition Towns to develop low carbon initiatives as a local level.
- Launch a Low Carbon
Loyalty Card which will encourage and reward local residents who purchase from
environmentally aware and sustainable local businesses. We hope to launch this
initiative within the next 18 months.
We
will strive to continually reduce the environmental impact of our organisation
and we will therefore review our environmental policy on an annual basis.
